DIY Closet Organizers – Building a Do It Yourself Closet Organizer
The advantage of having your own DIY organized closet is that it makes it easier for you to find your things and feel good about it, since you do it yourself, that’s an achievement.
Always take your time in planning how to install your closet organizer and where to place all anchors to the shelves into the studs. A very well secure closet will save you the trouble of fixing or repairing it later on in the future.
First you will need to locate where you want your closet organizer to be. You will have to take measurements in the places where you want it to be built. Next decide whether you want to include double closet rods, shelves, drawers and shoe organizers.
Next you will have to go to a local hardware store and buy the materials you need based on the design of your closet organizer you had chosen. Alright, this is how you will do your marking for your closet organizer; figure out your layout of the closet organizer and mark all your studs with a pencil and use a stud finder.
Next, this is also one of the crucial parts, you will need to draw out level lines at desired heights and add 1 by 4 lumber to support the shelves. After that, you will cut 1 by 16 lumber for shelves to desired length according to measurements and design. Nail 1 by 4 support studs to areas marked on the wall. Lastly is the installation of the closet rods and support brackets. You will have to screw the closet rod support brackets which are nailed into studs to shelving of the closet organizer. Place the closet rod cup holders at the desired area and cut closet rods to desired length. Place closet rod into the closet rod cup holder and screw one screw in closet rod to secure it.
Some tips on building your own do-it-yourself closet organizer is to use 2 inch nails to secure material to 1 by 4 material into the stud. Use 1 1/8-inch nails for shelving and always always mark your studs so that it will not damage the plumbing or electrical wires that is around that area.
