How To Install Your Own DIY Closet Organizers
Firstly, you will need to clear and remove all the items on your old closet. Next you will also need to dismantle and remove all existing shelves, frames and wheels if any. Thereafter you will need to measure the height, depth and width for good planning of closet installation.
Secondly, although you might already know what type of closet organizers you are going for but here are some guidelines for you if you haven’t really choose one yet. You can go for wire organizer if you are on a tight budget and the finishing look might not be as good as a wooden closet organizer but it saves you some money on the other end. Or you can go for a wooden closet organizer which is much more expensive and requires more help during assembly time but the finishing look is good!
Thirdly, you will need to know how much storage space you need for your new closet. You can choose between a kit closet which is already done up for you and you just need to install it or you can choose to buy a customized closet when you can custom made the closet to your likings but one thing is that the cost will be higher.
Fourthly, you will need to do things abit more technical here in this step, you might need some help from professionals if you need.
- From the location of the start of the closet track, draw a level line.
- Locate the position of the studs and screws for the support rails of the closet and then drill holes at the marked heights for the wall mounts. The holes must be drilled at the exact position as these studs and screw will be the connecting components that are connected to the back of the shelf to the wall itself.
- Check for the complete set of studs and screws as most complete kits will come with it in a set. Brackets will also be included as it is vital to support the corners of the closet organizers.
- If you have a average size closet drawers, it is advisable to install the closet shelves 3 ½ inches apart.
Lastly is the assembly process. There will be an instruction manual included and you need to follow it strictly if possible. Install the shelves, drawers, frames, wheels and hanging rods according to the manual. Once everything is done, you will feel a sense of satisfaction to have your closet self made for your own home and you can locate the items you need on the fly especially during times when you are in a hurry.
